Myth: Corn Ethanol is Great

Check this out. It takes more energy and resources to produce ethanol than it makes. One fact that is very revealing.  If we turned all the corn produced in the USA to ethanol, it would only produce enough to fuel 12% of US automobiles.
The underlying reasons for all this comes out in the end when the politicians, just seem to loose all coherent thought and understanding of the English language, and just repeat, “Ethanol is good for America’ no matter the evidence presented.  And, guess what, as always, there is some powerful corporation that stands to benefit from this illogic - ADM. (sigh)

I’ve had the same question about the efficiency (or lack thereof) of ethanol but on the other hand, if John Stossel tells me the world is round and the sky is blue, I’m selling my globe and changing the Carolina school colors to red. The man is always, violently, horribly wrong - and usually loudly so.

Yes, ADM will benefit greatly, and Monsanto. Then of course, the largest welfare program in America, Farm subsidies, has to be questioned, as this is just adding to it.

But there is another overlooked issue. The price of corn is going up, already 60% from last year due to demand. I was listening to a report on NPR that talked about the need to reduce corn based feeds to meet the ethanol needs. So what will the animals we eat use for feed? Synthetic feeds….what the heck is that? But don’t worry, it’s safe.
