Gary Gygax, creator of D&D has passed.away at age 69

The creative world has suffered a huge loss today. Many of the skills I use on a daily basis, I learned and developed from this man’s games.
Journey well to the Outer Planes Gary…

NFL eyeing team in Toronto? CFL boss thinks so

It is about time the NFL decided to do something about the crappy Buffalo Bills.  Indeed, move them to Toronto, but please, oh please change the name. Leave the ‘Bills’ in Buffalo.  in my opinion, any team that looses four SuperBowls needs to be dis-franchised anyhow.

justisengard dugg this:

CFL commissioner Mark Cohon believes all signs point to an NFL team being placed in Toronto. It’s the first time the league has taken such a definitive stance on the subject…

Apple Sets Limits - Says No Cash!

Apple Inc. no longer accepts cash for iPhone purchases and now limits sales of the cell phone to two per person in a move to stop people from reselling them.

justisengard dugg this:

Although think this is absolutely ‘wrong’, it does seem to be legal according to the US Treasury Department. It would seem to be that Apple would like to be able to track each iPhone it sells to an individual or business through the credit card transaction. This way they can keep this record and find out who is selling their cracked phones on eBay. In my humble opinion, Apple could spend their time and resources much better by devoting them to opening up new markets for the iPhone, such as Canada, and working on the iPhone SDK so more supported applications can be developed. Apple is doing well, lets keep the momentum up, rather than Steve Jobs trying to control every little aspect of the company’s business.

What’s Hidden in the iPhone’s ‘ AT&T Fine Print’?

The point to get out of this has nothing to do with the iPhone, and everything to do with the fact that Americans are letting our cell phone providers rape us blind. Yes, I am talking about AT&T and Verizon, etc. How have we found ourselves simpling accepting these terms, the ridiculous fees and charges?!

Telecom Analyst Bruce Kushnick has inspected the iPhone’s terms of service and offers some surprising revelations.

Apple is Outsmarting the iPhone’s Competition

Very good article that actually addresses some of the questions I have been getting about my new iPhone, as well as the persepective that the consumer market is more important than the corporate market. This is a position that many of my fellow IT colleagues do not seem to get. Corporations are just disocvering podcasts, vidcasts, blogs, social networking and web 2.0. These technologies all came from the consumer market, and are driving technology innovation. Apple’s success with the iPod, Mac OSX and now the iPhone only reinforce this.
If you think Apple does not have a plan - check out this article. Then you might wanna go buy some Apple stock. :-)

MUST READ ARTICLE

There are people with good sense, industry experience, and a feel for the wireless market who see the iPhone as just another smartphone. One with limitations and some serious weaknesses in terms of big business. I don’t think they’re looking deep enough, or with an Apple perspective, or with a view to the future.

Veronica Belmont to leave Buzz Out Loud (/cry)

I stop listening to Buzz Out Loud for two weeks, while on vacation ,etc., and look what happens. DAMN! Indeed, Lady V, you will be missed. Your commentary views and wit were what made BOL my most popular podcast. I am just not sure it is going to be the same without you. However, as they say, all good things must come to an end, and it seems you are moving on to bigger and better things. Best wishes and good luck!

FTC Abandons Net Neutrality

When will the US Government agencies actually represent its people and their interests rather than the interests of big business and corporate profits? How much longer are we going to put up with this?
